Love who you are TODAY #WhatILikeAboutMe

Now that Valentine’s Day is over, whether you’re single or coupled up, it’s time we admit it is a bogus holiday. It’s not about showing the people you love how much you love them anymore. A friend noted that at her child’s pre-school, Valentine’s cards now come with substantial gifts (not just a pencil or something similar). What has happened to the world?

Sharing your heart with friends and family is such an important part of life, but in a society so focused on other’s views, what if we changed the paradigm? What if we instead focused on learning to love ourselves.

How often do you think negative thoughts about yourself? Your body, your running speed, how many pushups you did compared to the person next to you in class, how you’re not married yet, how you wish you could be a stay at home mom, how you wish you were taller, shorter, thinner, blonder… it’s exhausting just thinking about it all.

What if you made a pact to stop thinking those negative thoughts and embrace who you are today? To accept ourselves as we are today, right now, not yesterday, not 10 years ago, not in 3 months. Find the good in who you are, love your self, your body for what you’ve accomplished, not what size you’re wearing, or how you compare to the people you follow on Instagram, Twitter, or your Facebook friends.

So let’s pledge to spend the next year loving YOU! Loving who you are, what you’ve done, where you’ve been, and what you’ve given back to the world. Share your stories, your pictures, your triumphs using the hashtag #WhatILikeAboutMe

What’s something you love about yourself?

What are you most proud of?

Who’s someone you want to love themselves? Tag them in a pic or post and as them to share #WhatILikeAboutMe
